About Me…

I’m Giovanni Toneatto, a Southern California–based Director of Photography with over a decade of experience in professional production.

My work is rooted in cinematic, narrative-driven storytelling, but shaped by the realities of team-based production. I’ve spent years operating within small, high-output creative teams, producing and directing content from concept through final delivery. That includes pre-production planning, visual development, on-set leadership, post-production, and direct collaboration with internal stakeholders and clients.

I’m comfortable working across studio and on-set environments, but what matters most to me is clarity — of message, of tone, and of purpose. In-house creative work requires consistency, adaptability, and trust. I value strong systems, thoughtful communication, and the ability to execute efficiently without losing attention to story.

I care about the emotional center of a project. Whether it’s long-form conversation, brand storytelling, or internal content, I approach each piece with intention. Lighting, framing, and pacing are important, but they always serve the broader vision and the team behind it.

Experience has given me structure. Story keeps me grounded. I try to bring both to every project.
